Today is the last day of school... I am happy that i can sleep later and do what i want instead of what I have to do...BUT today is the LAST day... today is the last student day at South Grove EVER... I am not sure what the plan for the building is but today is the last day that kids voices will echo in the hallway. This school has been a part of my life since 1959. Here is a list of some of the memories
1. I used to play in the woods where the school is now.
2. I attended the school for 6
th grade the first year it was open
3. I was in the only 7
th grade classes in the school... (there wasn't room in the high school for the 7
th grade...
4. I dug clay out of a hill on the school playground...
5. We skated on the ice rink that was in the playground.
6. After I grew up my children attended South Grove
7. I volunteered at school for my kid's teachers, joined the PTA, made friends and helped out
8. From the time Jeff started and the time Jed ended there was18 years of always having a child at South Grove.
9. I have worked in the building for 20 years.
10. Combine volunteering(18) and working at South Grove(20) and attending South Grove and I have spent 29 and 1/2 years at South Grove...
So today will be a different day... I am going to miss South Grove...
It always rains when school gets out... usually around 3:00 in the afternoon... Today there is a big threat of tornado's...between 10 and 4... school is out at 11:05...
Wouldn't it be funny if God was mad about South grove closing and one of the tornado's they are worried about for today hit South Grove? no one hurt of course but the building smashed? Crazy...
